The challenge
In Manufacturing of hot chocolate powder, the mixer plays a major role in the production process. One of the Large Chain Cafe companies wanted to mix these powders for making best quality mix. We were ready to take mixing homogeneity challenge and we offered our Alphie Model in trial as Hot Chocolate Powder Mixer. The key to making the mix is uniform homogenous mix of essence and sugar with cocoa powder.
Conventional Mixer vs. Alphie 3D Mixer
Currently for making 10 kg batch (cocoa powder 40% – 50%, sugar 45% – 60%, essence and additives 2% – 5%) using conventional mixer requires 20 minutes / batch and then further additional 30 minutes of manual container shaking. After mixing, the batch is kept in refrigeration for a period of 7 days and then packed to ship. Our Alphie mixer is used to replace some of the bottlenecks in existing process including improper mixing, multiple mixing on mixer and manually, dependency on operator everytime, and finally time consuming and slow process of mixing affecting overall unit production. Batch quality on Alphie Mixer was found to be better and consistent on testing compared to existing process and under mixing time which was less than half of conventional mixing batch time.
In conventional powder mixer or blender, the centrifugal force of the motion of rotation tends to favor segregation rather than mixing. The turbulence created (by baffles, inclined surfaces, etc.) is an afterthought and not intrinsic to the design of the blender.
